Our Design Process

Initial Appointment

We want to get to know you and to know about your project. By calling us to discuss, or by setting up a time to visit with us in our studio, we can get a feel for the project that you want to tackle and show you what we are all about. You can learn about our products by seeing them in person, and we can give you an initial overview of our company, products, services and general budget figures for a project similar to yours.

Design Concepts and Proposed Budget

You have looked around, done your research, and have decided that Kitchens Unlimited has the products and the team that you want to work with. By listening to your ideas and then responding, our team produces some very well thought out kitchens and baths. We meet with you to gather information so that we may begin to develop some preliminary plans and budget numbers. We discuss styles and construction of cabinetry, types and brands of appliances and fixtures, and choices for other materials such as countertops, backsplashes and flooring. Once this meeting has taken place, we will follow up with initial design ideas and a proposed budget for materials that will be presented at a second meeting.

At this time, a mutual agreement is established between Kitchens Unlimited and you, our client. A retainer will be requested so that we may spend the amount of time needed to dedicate our team and resources specifically to your project.

Design Development

Final selections have been made, and you are happy with the design. Now, the technical part begins. We do final detailed drawings. Floorplans and elevations become part of the visual presentation so that we know everything works for the jobsite conditions and that you understand the design and you can see how the room begins to take shape. We begin to confer with the part of our team that will complete the installation. Electrical and mechanical details are included when appliances and fixtures are involved so that a seamless installation will occur.

The Making of your Kitchen or Bath

After all decisions are made, it is time for everything to be ordered and built for you. As our cabinetry lines are custom, it takes anywhere from 6-16 weeks for our designs to be built and shipped to us. This enables you to get the exact details, door styles, woods and durable finishes that make our kitchens and baths special. During this time, our team is working behind the scenes on the additional elements of your project, making sure that all details are executed properly. All parts and pieces, fixtures and appliances, countertops and tile are part of our complete packages and are ordered and ready by the time the cabinetry arrives to be installed in your home.

Construction and Completion

Once we know the ship week of the cabinetry, we are able to put together a tentative schedule for you to project the time frame of the install. Our designers and project manager oversee the installation of your project and communicate with you throughout the process. If we are working with your General contractor or builder, we provide them with a similar schedule and everything that they need from a planning perspective so that they are prepared to receive the kitchen. This ensures that the installation goes smoothly.

After everything is installed, we will conduct a walkthrough with you to make sure all parts and pieces are working and installed correctly. Many of our appliance manufacturers offer a “use and care” session in your kitchen after you have moved into it. Our service to our customers continues after the install. We want to make sure that you are using your new kitchen or bath to the fullest extent.
